Things Are Starting To Finally Look Up For Me!

Recommended Posts

I started my journey of trying to get sleeved in January of 2011. I finally went to see my nutritionist and exercise specialist (for the 3rd time) this past Wednesday. The exercise specialist wasn't in the office that day, so I didn't get to talk to her. But the nutritionist said I was doing wonderful, and that she was clearing me for surgery. We agreed that the exercise specialist would call me next Wednesday afternoon for a follow up, keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to actually go see her, but just talk to her on the phone and go off of my chart that the nutritionist took notes on. After the appointment there I went straight to my Psychologist appointment. I had an interview face to face with her. She was wonderful, and I seemed to give her all of the answers she was looking for. She asked me what two proverbs meant, the first was "explain to me the proverb 'the grass is greener on the other side.'" And the second one was what does the proverb "don't cry over spilled milk" mean. So I must have given her great answers. Before she took me to the testing room, she said that from what we had talked about I was cleared for surgery, but I had to take a 567 question test before I could be completely cleared. It asked me strange questions that I guess I would have never expected. Some of them yes, but others I was completely in awe. So I left and then finally got a call back on Friday (yesterday) and she told me that after receiving the results from my test, I was completely cleared for the psych eval.!! I am so stoked!! Now I am keeping my fingers crossed that the exercise specialist will clear me without having to see me again, and also hopefully the insurance approval will go quick. I am really hoping to have my surgery within the next month or so.. wish me luck!!!

Good luck! I had to take the 550 question exam too it was so very strange. I would love to know what it would mean if i did like reading home magazines.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
