I think some pain is normal, I could only tolerate small sips ata time but the pain was more like uncomfortable feeling. Have you talked to your doctor?

Wow see this is where we differ I was on a strict clear liquid for a week before i could even try Protein. On week 2 I was able to try some Protein Drinks and soft cream based Soups. As far as I can remember all I could do was sip sip sip Water for about 4 to 5 days then gradually I was able to increase my water intake. I dont think I could have handled protein well on my first week out, I could barely tolerate water so I did a lot of sugar free pops.

Luckily i can say never experienced any pain after my surgery. However, I was not allowed Protein drinks that soon. You should stick to Clear Liquids, and wait til you get realeased to full liquids before you try any shakes or anything you can't see through. You can have sf Jello, broth, sf popsicles, room temp drinks are better. Try not to rush it and you will feel more comfortable. Your sleeve needs a week or two for the healing to start.

Is the Protein clear liquids? I was told to do clear liquids for two weeks then full liquids for two weeks after that. If the protein is a full liquid then that may be the problem. Your stomach needs time to heel. Be sure to let your doc know and see what he says.

Probably still experiencing the shooting pains from gas. Remember, they pump you full of gas to expand the stomach area and make the surgery easier. You'll feel gas pain for 1 to 2 weeks likely.

I wasn't given restrictions for Protein I have only had three medicine cups of it but I'm going to stop until I verify with my surgeon on Monday. I really appreciate all the responses I am on a emotional roller coaster I hate pain. I have been through 3 csections a lap band put in and removed and this is the worst of all.

I had trouble drinking too. Still do sometimes if I drink too fast or take too big of a sip. I do best with green tea it seems. Do you get a sharp uncomfortable tight feeling? That's how mine is. I also started taking gas x and that has helped a lot! I hope you feel better soon! Time flies!!

I believe the rule of thumb for all of us patiens of Dr. Aceves was Clear liquids 10 days..(yes it was hard), then cloudy for 10 days (this is where I'm at now) and then adding in pureed foods smushie food.....I can't wait for that....I'll try and egg...great potein and low fat.

I had no real pain, only if you take to big of sip (more than a tsp.) I have a little restriction...kinda like a sink trying to drain to fast with to much Water in it....takes time...

Good Luck...I was sleeved 2/27/12 and have now lost 25 lbs.

My Dr. found a hiatal hernia and had to do a repair during my VSG. I would get a pain when I drank after surgery. I would have to press on my breatbone until the pain went away. Called the Dr. and they said, "Oh, that's because we put a stitch at the top of the stomach because of the hernia repair. That will go away once that heals." The pain went away after a few weeks. Hope this helps.

I had a hiatal hernia repair done too so maybe that has something to do with it.

You have to take tiny sips. Too big of sip makes it hurt. I promise it will get better. My surgery report says, "...used a single interrupted 0 Ethibond suture in a figure-of-eight pattern." Probably common with a hernia repair.

I had a hernia repaired too! And my gallbladder removed. A threefor. When I found out about those during my pre-op stuff I knew that God was telling me this was the right thing to do. I never would have known about the hernia and gallbladder.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
