Where did you stay the night before surgery? Was it extra to stay at the hotel in Tijuana or did you stay in San Diego?

I was really wanting to go to the hotel lucerna the day prior to my surgery so I could enjoy the pool and do some shopping. I feel like I'm being a pain to Anaid, because I have asked her a million questions, but I feel like I'd like that better than two days after surgery at the hotel. My husbands aunt is most likely going with me, so, I just think that would be the way to go

We actually stayed at the hospital because we did not get into Tijuana until around 9pm and were to start pre op tests at 6:00am for 10 am surgery.

We are getting picked up at 9 this morning for our 12:45 flight. The hotel is beautiful, the beds and pillows are very comfortable. Compare to an American Marriott. The broth and popsicles in the cafe are yummy. Its in a very nice part of town. It would be hard to walk anywhere without getting runover. They have these bizarre traffic circles and people drive like crazy people!

LOL @ the circle. Yes, they will run you over and not stop to help so be careful. Ask Trish or Dr. Kelly for a ride whenever you are ready to venture out. I also enjoyed my stay at the Lucerna. I felt comfortable and safe. There are out of uniform guards around the premises. And I can't say enough about my experience with Trish and Dr. Kelly.

I am glad that you and your sister faired well. Best wishes.

Just wanted to update! I got home late last night and was so happy to be in my own bed. I had no trouble sleeping on my side with a pillow. I'm feeling good today. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop! I am down #13 from the day I started my pre-op diet. I think the fact that I did not cheat at all prepared me a little. I am able to get liquids down with no problem and have been sipping on tea, Vitamin Water, Unjury chicken broth and even a popscicle today. I really wish for all those who have not had their surgeries yet, that you sail through it like I did.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
