ashby110 0 Posted August 4, 2006 Just had my band done just about two weeks ago. (Aug 24) About the same recovery and pain as with my gall bladder. Only problem, I never feel full. Not starving feeling but not full ethier. I just portion my food and eat that. Had it done in Mexico and it was the best medical experince I've ever had! Can't wait to drop that weight! Any advice for the newbie?
waterlily1072 5 Posted August 4, 2006 Congrats on your new band! As for advice, sip sip sip. And you may be one of the lucky few who don't experience a lot of swelling. It is normal to feel hungry, and you don't want to reach the "full" feeling the goal is to stop eating before that point. You are on mushies I believe at this point, check out the food section for ideas, remember you can put almost anything into a blender :hungry: And good luck
CindyCam 1 Posted August 4, 2006 :welcome: Ashby110 to bandland. I was in your situation too. I was banded June 5th and i was always hungry. The first two or three days after surgery were maybe the only days that i didnt really want to eat that much. It took plenty of self control because i could have eaten anything just like it was a normal day. Once you start getting your fills that will change. Take it from me you dont want to be overfilled or get something stuck because it is very unpleasant....It is down right miserable. Just hang in there. Glad your on the losing side now...Good Luck!!! Elisabethsew 50 Posted August 4, 2006 Welcome and congratulations. It takes a full 6 weeks to recover completely from the surgery so don't push yourself. Follow the MD's diet instructions, stay hydrated, stay away from processed foods and get plenty of rest. Also, gradually increase your exercise.
Marimaru 7 Posted August 4, 2006 To tell you the truth, you will probably not ever get that full feeling again. There is a big difference between being full and being 'satisfied', and since the pouch is at the upper part of the stomach, you aren't likely to feel full if you are portioning your food, or in the future, when you have restriction that helps you not eat more. I hope that explaination helped.
