Hello there well, I'm from Inglewood, Ca and I'm getting sleeved on March 23, I have my pre-op on the 15 of this month, just a little run down of what I've experience with Kiaser. I was referred to the options program, about 1yr and 3 months ago, I went to orientation in july 2011 at kiaser sunset office, since it was a bit far from home and I don't have a car, I waited for the classes which were going to start in sept 2011 at kiaser waterrigde, so classes started and they finished in nov 2011 the last week, since the nurse was fired and no one was assigned that class, we were told to just wait for someone to call in about 3 months, I was furious, because I wanted the surgery to be done after graduating options, so I let december go by in mid january 2012 i started calling the instructor and went off on her, asked to speak to her supervisor, left 2 messages and then i got ahold of her, she asked me to get my labs drawn again to make sure everything was good, I went and to my disappointment, my Vitamin D was lower than the first time my labs were drawn, so she she said she was sending my chart to the assigned nurse, that i would get a call within one week, and sure thing, I got the call, before she could even introduce herself, I went off on her, I had 2 months gone by and when they contact me they tell me I'm Vitamin d deficiency, she was apologizing and said that I needed to get on a 8 week treatment, so after a long talk I was told that she would contact me to see how i was doing, that she would follow up with me, so I started the treatment like on the 3rd week of february 2012 she calls and tells me she got the ok to have a consultation with the surgeon, so I was schedule for feb. 28, 2012 when I went and talked to the doctor, which is Dr. Jorge Zelada Getty, he was impressed at the fact that I almost lost my 10% I started options at 270lbs and on feb 28 I weigh in at 248lbs, so he just talked health issues and asked if I was ready and I said yes so I told him I was willing to take cancelations if possible and he said he would keep me in mind, to jsut wait for someone to call me to schedule my pre-op, so on March 5, 2012 I get a call asking me if I wanted to have surgery in thursday, I said no, I am so nervous, and I asked was was the next available date and the nurse said march 23, I said I'll take it, so here I am thinking so many things, wishing it could just be over, so if anyone has questions or advice for me you can email me at lady_bug_02@hotmail.com thanks and good luck to everyone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
