my DH is morbise, he has really never tried to lose weight. he is 55 and i am 58 yrs. young- his weight doesn't bother him/he does support my losing weight cuz he enjoys the "less" of me for different reasons i.e. sex TMI? - but i also for that too reason would appreciate if he lost some weight. i have a variety of family/friends that are overweight also pushing the unreal foods and servings on me wanting to go out to dinner - like i used to. Its like they want me to join the party of being oerweight like they are, so i can be included in the club - just wondering about others - thanx kathy

Actually, My DH is also over weight and is constantly hungry. He is diabetic and often skips meals. He'll say he's not hungry, but will then devour any food put in front of him. in the began I liked letting him have my stuff bc I can't eat the majority of it. Now I realize that I'm not doing him any favors. So I have been telling him that I'm fearful that somethings going to happen to him and that I need him to just eat less foods. I keep giving the message of "eat less" and he has started weighing himself and eating less. Unless it's the times where he skips meals and then he devours what evers in front of him. But to his credit, he has lost a few lbs. I am so proud of him for that.

Ask your hubby how many over weight senior citizens does he see? That might help motivate him. Your friends and family do want to pull you back to the status quo to ease their insecurities, but it is toooooooo late! There's no going back, so let them have their anxiety and smile and be proud of your healthy decisions. ;)

Hopefully!! your husband will come on board with you, but if not oh well you do you. Just remember your going to have some haters and that's fine, but do not allow them to put you back where you were. That would not even be an option for me. If you need to go out with them less then do that, misery loves company. remember that.

Likasulema,

Lol you make me giggle :-) its not TMI, we are all adults here! The fact of the matter is that the better you feel as in knees, back etc... The more exciting and pleasurable the experience is between husband and wife, there's nothing shameful about that! I personally am excited to get back to my old sex drive because the more weight I gained and the more exhausted I stayed and the more self conscious I got the more it affected that experience between us.

Good luck to you!!

I know one thing--you are not alone! So many here have posted about this and I know you will find a lot of people who can relate. So hang in there. It is tough to navigate through the family issues. And you will always have the food pusher lol. But keep coming here and getting support. I know you can do it!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
