Protein Shakes What Do U Like

Recommended Posts

Walmart sells a Protein Drink in a tub for about $17. It has a very good nutritional make-up. It's chocalate. I mix it with skim milk and put it in the blender for 1 minute. It gets wipped into a thick shake type drink and tastes much better this way. I wouldn't recommend blending the drink for post-op people due to the amount of air that gets put into the finished drink.

I use pure Protein too. I have a really hard time getting a whole one down, but over the course of a day it can be done since its only 11oz. Skip costco tho in the beginning wife you won't know if you like it & go to fresh & easy if you have one & buy it in smaller amounts. I prefer chocolate, but use vanilla in coffee sometimes, or add frozen berries & sf banana pudding to make a smoothie. If you use frozen berries you don't need ice watering it down & adding to the amt you have to drink.

Best wishes!! It was super hard for me but for some its better. Regardless, it gets better!!

I don't get these 60grams ones, I was always told your body can't absorb more than 25 grams at a time no matter what so why do they make them higher?? So people that don't know this can buy them??

I'm having a lot of success with the Syntrax Nectars. I'm 5 dpo and I've been adding them to Powerade zero or Water and knocking out my Fluid and Protein in one bottle. I ordered the sample packet and I think once i'm done with it I will buy another sampler.

I tried the Walmart brand, and I couldn't get past the first swallow. It felt like sand.

I also use Muscletech Nitrotech Hardcore pro series from GNC and EAS carbadvantage Protein shakes. I used these before the surgery and I can still stomach them.

I also got the Syntrax sampler pack, which combos are good as far as flavors to mix. I tried the apple ecstacy with 4 oz apple juice 4 oz Water and it was pretty painful to get down. I dont know what flavors would mix well.

I wouldnt drink a 60 gram Protein in one setting. Our body only absorbs 25-30 grams at a time, and that takes 3 hours. inless you sip on it all day you are just not abosrbing the protein. Im struggling with protein right now, my sleeve doesnt like the thickness of almost all of them. My husband is grumbling cause i probably have 300 bucks worth of powders that i dont like. Im hoping eventually i will be able to drink them. But i like Muscle milk ok, i put ice in it and make a smoothie and ive been drinking the protein "shots" once it hits my tongue its over i cant swallow, so i pour it in a shot glass and toss it to the back of my throat like im downing tequila.Takes me about a half hour doing it like that but it ends up being 46 grams at the end of the day, then i dont stress cause i know i eat enough meat to cover the rest.

I drink an Oh Yeah vanilla or strawberry shake every morning. They have 32 grams of Protein but are pretty expensive. For the rest of the day I supplement with Unjury which you have to order online. I mix a scoop of vanilla with orange crystal light its delicious. Also they have chicken flavor which I mix with my broth. Unjury have about 20 grams per scoop. You can buy individual packs at $2 per pack so you can sample it out. Hope this helps.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
