Recommended Posts

TrueBlood, I was scared to take my Vitamins because I have to chew them up. What if I don't chew them up good enough? But I'll take one now. Let's see how this turns out.

Just chew them up as good as you can. My surgeon says it is okay to chew Vitamins even from day one as long as you chew them really good. Not having Vitamins may also be contributing why you feel weak.

FYI, I also have to chew my vitamins and I haven't noticed a problem with it.

How is everyone managing to get in their fluids? I thought about making a scheudule, but my alarm would be going off every 2 to 3 minutes!

I just keep liquids near me and just sip all day. I'm not at the point where I distinguish a breakfast/lunch/dinner yet. I always have like, 3 cups around me. I think it annoys my family. ;P Having an alarm would drive you insane if it was going off that much. You'd be dreaming of beeping.

This too shall pass my friend. Im 2 weeks out. I know its painfull and frustrating. Please try sugar free popcicles and slowly. This helped me when I couldnt drink. Tiny tiny sips and walk or move alot! Everything is very swollen and lots of gas. Dont panic. This is normal. Hang in there.

Why not get liquid multi-vitamins. I got mine from GNC.

Because I bought a big old bottle of chewables and I don't like wasting money. They actually dissolve pretty well so I'm ok with them. Just a little scared at first.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
