I saw the Dr. about 3 weeks ago and according to him, the surgery is a medical need. I knew it was a long time ago before the comorbidities. I am so anxious about waiting to hear what the insurance says. I don't want to be super model thin, I just want to be healthy and this waiting game is nerve wrecking. I want to hurry and get this done! I have been thinking about this for 3 years now and I am ready. OK, I just needed to vent :-)

I am waiting around for the psychologists offc to call me to schedule mine. The clerk at the surgeons offc emailed her Monday and again Wednesday. I am not about to let that one thing hold me up. I am thinking about finding a psyche on my own...

I am impatiently awaiting too. I am self-pay though. As you can see by my ticker below, I am pretty excited. I suggest spending the weight-ing game by researching and reading as much as possible. I have learned so much from this board it is insane. Good luck to you.

I too am getting anxious. On 3/22 I finish all of my prerequisites and wait for insurance approval. I'm hoping everything goes fast, if it doesn't I'll have to wait until fall. I can't get time off work after May 4th. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I too am trying to be patient in waiting. Took my paperwork to my pcp on Tues and they've yet to fax over to my surgeon..I p/up my psych. eval report on Mon. and am hoping that's a-ok. I did request therapy with her even after since I'm sure I'll be going through some things emotionally after surgery. I am just waiting on all this stuff to get to my insurance and then will be playing the "weight-ing" game again..am nervous but I will fight for this! I know it will be good for me..Good Luck to you...

The waiting game can be intense for all of us  . Yesterday was the one week waiting period for me. I'm the same way with the phone ringing. I get so excited when I hear it ring or if I'm gone, see that I have a phone message and hope that it's the surgeons office. I just really want to hear the words that I'm approved.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we all get the approval we so desperately need.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
