It frustrates me to hear these weight losses. Dont take me wrong when I say that, I am happy for everyone. Since my surgery Jan 20 I have lost 20 pds... that is it. But I look at the whole picture. On Dec 4 I weighed 308, today I weigh 268, if I go by that number I have lost 40 pds. I do exercise three times a week for 30 mins, my calorie intake is minimal. However, I can honestly say without this surgery I wouldn't have lost that much. Good luck

Everyone is different with their weight loss. Typically people that have more weight to lose will lose a considerable amount more in the first 6-12 months post op. I find that I am a slow loser and I do exercise 4-5 times a week. I lost about 25 lbs in the first month post op and then the weight loss slowed down and I started losing 3-5 lbs a month. I sometimes got upset seeing everyone else that was losing 60 lbs in 3 months and wasn't exercising and it took me about 7 months to lose 60 lbs and I was working my tail off in the gym. I have learned that I cannot compare myself to anyone else. What is most important is that I feel amazing and healthier than I ever have. I used to weigh in every single day where as now I may weight in once a week. It doesn't matter what the scale says as long as I feel good. If I keep up with my workout routine as I have been, I know I will hit goal. Even if it takes me 2 years to get there :-)

PreciousCargo, I can so relate to you. It is getting pretty hard for me to continue to log on to this website and continue to see this on a daily basis. I had surgery on 01/25/12 and am only down 21 pounds and have been in a stall for, this week makes 3 weeks. I am doing eveything I am suppose to and my feelings are really getting hurt making me think I am doing something wrong or even questioning my Dr's skills (thinking did he do this right). this is so frustrating, I feel like I risked my life for nothing. I have lost 21lbs before on my own.

Definitely, that is great losses. But in the first month especially anything from 2 - 40 lbs is possible and "normal." I lost 16 lbs my first month and 11 lbs my second. I am not the largest loser, but I am right on track for me. I normally average about 10 lbs a month, and I try not to worry about everyone else because I will hit my goal by 1 year out if I keep following the plan. It is about percentage lost not just big numbers.

In the first couple of months, I did not weight myself so I really don't know how much I lost in the first couple of months. However, I am 5 months out and have lost 68lbs. I think I have lost around 10 lbs since December. Overall, I am really happy and as long as I'm eating Protein and veggies, with some starches, I will continue losing weight. I know that by watching others on this site, every one's weight loss is different. There are so many variables that it is impossible to get all the info needed to estimate lbs loss.

Just sit back, make healthy eating choices, and enjoy your transformation. It's an awesome ride! ;)

I'm one of those folks that has had HUGE stalls!! Up to 4 weeks... and several. I've had a stall / loose pattern. Until recently when the loss has leveled off to about 3 to 5 pounds a month. I have lost 83 pounds and look and feel great! I learned that our bodies are not machines. Loosing 20 to 30 lbs in a couple of months is amazing!!!! Gosh, even people with devastating illness don't lose that much that fast!!! We have to keep perspective. I always to told my self to be patient, that everyone's body is unique and I just kept doing what I needed to do. It really does come off! :-)

Please don't get discouraged with the stalls. I have gone over a month without losing a pound. It is frustrating but it will come off. Give it some time :)

Remember this, we didn't gain it overnight, we wont lose it overnight. How many diets have we tried, without equal success, for months only to go back to our normal eating habits out of anger/depression? The sleeve is a tool that aids us in making healthier choices daily. We will be way healthier in the long run. Remember to track the NSVs (non scale victories) and the weight will come off as long as you are doing what you should [:

Hi everyone,

Please don't get discouraged with the number on the scale. I only lost 14 lbs in the first month.

Remember when you have a stall...you may need to change things up a bit.

My doc had me increase my calories a bit and the weight started coming off again. I know how frustrating it is. Please hang in there, the weight will come off. Try focusing on how you are feeling rather than being a slave to the nasty scale.< /p>

Hope this helps,

Nichole

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
