Happy to say that my doctor just called to tell me that the insurance approved everything! My surgery is now scheduled for April 9 and I couldn't be more excited ( and nervous). It's all becoming so real now. It's been a long 7 months, getting all my required studies done. Seemed like today would never come. Ive been everyone's stories and have found lots of comfort in them. I've lost 54 lbs on my own ( go me!!) to get ready for the surgery. So excited to see the weight come off after surgery. :):):):)

We will be sleeve sisters! My vsg is also scheduled for april 9th. Are you getting ready to start the 2wk liquid diet? I counting the days..and trying to complete my food funerals. Mentally I'm ready but then I will get a sudden wave of "Oh my goodness! Am I sure I know what I'm doing? and will I be able to handle the challenges I will face...then I remind myself of how much better I will feel and look and then I relax again .....until the next panic moment. How about you? How do you Feel?

Yay!!! I'm gearing up now. My paperwork only says 1 week liquid diet before. Most I've seen here are 2. Not sure why. I'm so ready for this. So tired of being fat. Happy the time has finally come. I'm 34 and have no health issues other than being big. I'd like to keep it that way. Where are you from? NY here.

Getting the "approval call" is soooo exciting! It was a long 7 month wait for me too. The wait is finally over! Yay!

I'm 38 with high cholestrol, borderline diabetic, arthritis, etc. I also fractured my ankle in 3 places 2 yrs ago and have lots of joint pain there. They said since it's a load bearing joint the wls should help. I live in kansas city, mo.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
