Oh Boy, I'm In Need Of Support

Recommended Posts

I'm eating the wrong things, and I have stopped exercising. I don't eat much, but what I do eat is not that good for you. I work full time, but I dont get on the tread mill, or anything. I've lost 50 pounds, and that has been for a good week now. I didn't think this would happen to me. I had my surgery on 12/12/11, not quite 3 months. I was doing good, up until last week. We have no power and have been living in a hotel, eating at resterants, and stressed to the max. I hope our power is restored today, but it could be another week. thanks for letting me share. God Bless, and I know I need to suck it up, and be glad that we still have a home. . Kathy :(

Kathy: it is amazing that you are doing as well as you are right now considering all the stress your in. Just try and make the healthiest choices that you can. If you go to a restarant, order some Soup, cottage cheese, or anything that is high Protein. Give your self some slack, and work towards getting your environment back to a normal status quo.

You have lost 50 lbs and that's great! Let's give yourself some KUDO's for the hard work you've done so far. Hugs XOXOXOX

We were sleeved on the same day and I hit that rock last week. The main reason I continue to come to this board is because there are women and men here that understand my frustrations. Their encouragement helps me through my rough times. I know life can be a bastard sometimes, but it's our duty to prove that SOB wrong. We didn't come into this easy and we aren't getting out of it easy either.

Keep trying. Even if you passed up a cookie earlier in the day to break down and eat one at night. It's still one less cookie. Keep trying. Even if you weren't motivated to go on a walk today, you may be up to it tomorrow. Keep trying.

I don't know why you are going through what you are but I know it's so hard to live out of a suitcase let alone try to watch what your eating. Be easy on yourself and now that you are aware, just try to take baby steps and get back on track. 50 pounds is awesome,,you're doing really great!

Thanks so much, you all really did help me. We had a bad winter storm, dropping 2 feet of snow on us, breaking so many trees, and power lines. As of right now, power is still out. Another night in the hotel. Thanks again for the tips, your right, I will look at the menu differently.

I am sorry you are going through all this.

Could you just eat out one time per day? Does your hotel room have a mini fridge? If so, you could get some yogurt or single serving cottage cheeses, or single servings of cheese.

Even without a mini fridge you could get some fruit and some Protein bars.

I've lived in places where ice storms knock out the power. That is certainly no fun at all!

Sorry you're going through this right now, I am sure it is very stressful and stress will definitely influence our choices. There are plenty of good choices of Protein at most restaurants now, it's seeing the stuff others order sometimes, or maybe the baskets of rolls or whatever that they sometimes place on your table that is difficult. You could say please don't bring out the bread, but if you're like me, usually others at the table want them lol. But I am usually looking forward to whatever little bit I order, and I will even do sandwiches sometimes, then remove the bun once it arrives. It felt a little weird to do it at first, but I have yet to have anyone ask me why I didn't eat the bun. I will cover it up with a napkin so as to not bring as much attention to it, but the way I look at it is, I ordered it, we're paying for it, I can mutilate it however I feel haha.

I am glad you still have a home to go back too as well, but it's still difficult, especially post op from weight loss surgery, to have your life turned upside down. Be kind to yourself, and try to make good choices one meal at a time. I hope your power is restored soon!!

:)

Kdippy...are you in N. MI?! I am here and in the same situation! No power, suitcase livin...only I'm one month post op today and between 3 small kids, a husband, and me all crammed in a hotel room and my lack of focus on anything sleeve related, I'm feeling your pain. I think that we take this hiccup and make the best of it. Just know you are not alone!

Honey! you'll be ok, I promise! I see you're from Northern Michigan - I just left there (Traverse City area) a few months ago. Glad you're ok after that storm. My dad still doesn't have power! You can only do what you can do! Try to get out and walk - try to get on that treadmill! Its never a good thing when your whole world gets tossed upside down. Just get back on the wagon as soon as you can!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
