Water Aerobics

Recommended Posts

Our gym has a pool and Water aerobic classes three days a week. I have been stalled (scale-wise) for a while but I am getting smaller. Well a few Water aerobic classes has the scale moving again.

Most of the people in the class are much older than I am (47). Some of them have limited mobility. It is a very good workout, and not intimidating at all, even though (OMG!) I am in public in my bathing suit, which is now kind of too big! lol

Good for you! I am 7 days post op and when I am released this Friday to work out that is exactly what I am going to do. I have Fibromyalgia and the resistance the Water gives me is perfect! I thought the same thing about the age of the women. I am 54 and thought wow I may be the hottest chick in the pool!! :)

You might well be the hottest chick! I think I am one of the smallest in our pool.

There is a nice camaraderie in the class. As the new person, some of the regulars will help me if I am not doing something quite right.

I know some overweight people are embarrassed to go to the gym, but the Water aerobics class is very different than the weight and cardio areas, in my experience.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
