I'm feeling great, able to get all my liquids inand my stomach doesn't seem to be hurting anymore. I'm kind of depressed about my weight loss. I was down 6 pounds 2 days after surgery and I haven't lost an ounce since. I know the first month is when you are supposed to loose the most weight, so I'm getting a little scared this isn't going to work for me.

I'm doing well. Today I'm able to get in all my fluids. My left side hurts bad enough to have the heating pad on it right now. I was out doing gardening and stuff outside. I probably overdid it a little. It seems like I do that every day. I haven't weighed myself, I know I am still really swollen. If you do the math for weight loss...3500 calories = 1 lb. So as soon as you burn up, and/or eat 3500 calories less than your body needs, then you lose a pound. To me, I don't see how anyone can lose more than 3 or 4 lbs a week. But I know they do. I also know that the faster you lose it, the harder it is on the gall bladder. I think its better to look at it over the long term. I will be thrilled if I am 50 or 60 lbs lighter by this time next year. (But really 100 down is what I really want). What kind of Protein Drinks are you guys finding you like? I'm finding out the stuff I liked prior to surgery, I don't like now. I can't handle much sweet. Isopure ready to drink is really going down the best for me.

I am doing great! I'm down 44 pounds and have another 44 to go. I have more energy than I've had in years. I almost forget about the surgery until it is time to eat. I've eaten pretty much anything I wanted, but in very small portions. They only thing i have completely avoided is sugar.

Wow! Pixie...42 lbs, Meli.....44 lbs, that's awesome. I'm down only 19. 17 the first month, and a whopping 2 lbs last month. I'm sticking to the rules, and I have very few carbs, no sugar. I use my treadmill for about 45 min a day, and doing yard work, gardening, etc almost everyday after work. I feel no different than I did before surgery, except that I can't eat much. I'm just a slow loser. Prior to surgery, I was maintaining 222 lbs on 1200 calories a day, so it's no wonder I have to be at 700-800 cals to lose. But, I know it HAS to come off, I just have to be patient. I guess I need to sign up for a Water aerobics class or something, but I live in such a small town, I would run into people I know, ugh! Great to hear from you guys.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
