Help! I was prescribed Cipro and it's a large circular off white pill that tastes so horrible and hurts like hell to take becoz it involves gulping. Did anyone out there get prescribed something different for antibiotics? Preferably in a capsule form? I feel like I'm choking whenever I take it and the panic probably doesn't help. Otherwise I am doing ok.

Have you tried a pill cutter? I cut mine pills into 8-10 mini-pills in order to get them down...they have them at CVS and Target! Let me know how it goes...hope you start feeling better.

btw...did you try warm Decaf tea yet? Talk soon!

Cipro can be cut with a pill cutter that you can get at Walmart or most drugstores. Try taking the cut up pills with a bite of Jello as it will help mask the taste and also help to open up the stomach a little for the pill to enter. My doctor had me doing this several days after having surgery. I think that this will help you a lot. Best wishes

I'll pop out tomorrow and get a pill cutter...never thought of that! Thanks guys! J, I had some ginger tea which went down well, plus it naturally helps with nausea, which creeps up ever now and then, though not often. 4 days post op and counting! Am I weird for not weighing myself since the day before surgery? I don't want to get addicted to the scale!!

I was weighing everyday but then I started to get down when I did not think that I was losing weight period or fast enough. I then went to just weighing on Monday mornings and now I have gone to every 2 weeks. It is just to self destructive to myself to get on the scale and gain or lose just a pound. I hope that you do not fall into this trap of being a slave to the scale.

Congrats! You are doing really good. Cut the Cipro into tiny pieces and take it with yogurt or SF pudding. ;)

My surgeon let us eat yogurt and sf pudding the first week post op. It's creamy and easy to swallow. I used a really small spoon to take little tiny bits. ;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
