IowaAndy 95 Posted March 6, 2012 where are you having your surgery and who is doing your surgery. Have you had problems with anesthesia in the past or have you ever had any other major surgeries?
Tattoodmom 6 Posted March 6, 2012 I am having my surgery by a surgeon I adore Dr Neff in NJ. I have never had issues in the past but any time ive been put under it has not been by choice it has been in emergency situations. Last time I was put under for any length of time by choice I was 18 and childless.
thebionicbroad 127 Posted March 6, 2012 The surgery will be over before you know it. If your lungs are healthy, you should be good to go. I understand your concerns. I love my babies, too. But think about how thin you'll be, and that you'll live to see a few generations down the road. Good luck!
Tana_Q 20 Posted March 6, 2012 My date is the 15th and I am also getting nervous! I haven't had general anesth. in a long, long time and I am so apprehensive about it. I also have a young son and he needs me! But we will both be fine!

Tattoodmom 6 Posted March 6, 2012 It means alot to get such positive energy from everyone! My husband isnt a very emotion based kinda guy so if hes scared ill never know and he is supportive but apprehensive and doesnt wanna hear mu concerns because he then worries and he wants to be the "stro.g" one
IowaAndy 95 Posted March 6, 2012 I think that you are going to be fine. You have a good surgeon that you apparently have faith in and that is a major plus for you. I doubt that smoking for 5 years is going to be of big concern and as long as you are in good health otherwise you should be fine. I wish you all the best with your surgery and hope that all goes well for you.

bethiefish 3 Posted March 6, 2012 Hey everyone! Im new to this site and my surg is Mar 19. Im nervous about anestheia and leaving my kids. Any words of wisdom? I will admit, it is quite a scary experience. There is not much anyone can say or do to ease the nerves. But what I can say is that you are making a great life changing decision that takes a lot of courage! The anesthesia isn't all that bad, you really don't even remember being put to sleep. And have no fear about your kids, because they will be right beside you when you wake up! I wish you the best of luck with your experience! Everything will go just fine! bethiefish 3 Posted March 6, 2012 Thank you. I guess its just how fast its coming up. I just worry about my babies so much and I know I need this for them but I am so afraid of the unknown I remember four months ago when my date finally arrived. It's quite a roller coaster of emotions. Try not to think about the unknown, yer focus on the future! Keep your head up. Once you wake up all your fears will be gone and you will just focus on recovery and finding out what your better, healthier life has in store for you!
