Neicy 0 Posted May 24, 2004 I am scheduled to have surgery in 5 days, and wouldn't you know that I have this annoying tickle in my throat and chest that I just can't seem to kick. I am flying to Mexico on Wednesday, and I am starting to get paranoid that they won't want to do it since I am coughing too much. I have no fever, it's seasonal allergies, anybody else have upper respiratory distress when they got banded? I am worried that if I cough too much, it may affect the sutures or just hurt me too much! I just hate to reschedule, I want this so badly, and I'm psyched up for banding NOW. Whatcha think?
sassaay 1 Posted May 24, 2004 Hello, I suffer continuously from allergies, they only worsen with the season... but I am always having to deal with congestion. I don't know if my body was trying to help me out or if the time of year was right... but I don't recall my allergies being an issue when I was banded. I followed my doctor’s orders and suffered through any symptoms... but honestly I don't remember it being that bad. Coughing and sneezing after surgery was extremely painful and I learned quickly to pile 3 pillows on the bed and lay on my stomach with my full body weight against the pillows before coughing.... Unfortunately, sneezes are more involuntary and I swore I busted stitches a few times because the pain was so intense... but it all passed in a couple of weeks and things were fine. You might want to phone your doctor in Mexico to just check-in, but if it is allergies and not a cold, I bet they won't want to reschedule your surgery. Good luck. La_madam 20 Posted May 24, 2004 Dont worry to much one of our fellow members had the same problem when she arrived in Mexico 3 weeks ago and her surgery went off without a hitch. You should be ok, but it porbalby would not hurt to give your doctor a call to let him know of all of this. Michelle
Neicy 0 Posted May 24, 2004 Thanks for the reply. Of course, it's just good sense to call the doc about this. If I take a good cough Syrup, it seems to be under control, I just want it gone! Thanks for the support. Denise
