Okay so I went ahead and made an appt with Dr. Mitchell for my first fill. Aside from a few thing giving me really minor discomfort, everything goes down. I'm not eating huge quantities but I'm not losing any weight either. I asked the receptionist how he does his fills....lol....she said he basically just feels around and hopes he hits it....GREAT!...This should be fun...I have to be optimistic though...there isn't anyone else around here that I know of.

Why didn't I get to be the poster child that goes 16 months with no fill and loses 120 pounds?

That sucks, they should have got there money back.I know when I got my fill, after they put it in, they took it back out to make sure they found the right spot, if they don't do that, maybe you should ask them to.

Time2live: There is someone else for sure that I know of, Dr. Descouteax (or close to that), but I'd stick with Dr. Mitchell... he's the one I've heard about most.

But like "luvulots" said, I know of someone who Dr. Mitchell couldn't find the port of after several sticks, but still had to pay. (they then had to go to the hosp. and have it done with flouro {which would be nice in the first place})

Yeah, make sure they pull out the Fluid they put in, after they think they've got it in... just to be sure.

Well I'll definitely get him to pull it back out after he puts it in. My appointment isn't until the 22nd though just because I needed to wait till I was passed the 6 week mark, otherwise I would go sooner. I wonder if I have the option of going straight to the hospital for future appts if he isn't successful this time?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
