It has been a month since my surgery! I have lost over 20 lbs...and so far have had very little problems. 3 nights ago when I moved a certain way in my sleep I got a knife stabbing sharp pain in my stomach area...not near the incisions. It only happened a couple times that night, the following night it happened a couple more times. Today I was sitting at my PC and the sharp pain hit me hard, but it only lasted less than a minute. I read online that others have experienced gas trapped and other problems and I don't want to over react so I have not called my doctor yet...but was wondering if anyone else had these systems shortly after their surgery? Last week I had my 3 week check-up and the surgeon said my incisions looked good and since I was not having any problems he thought all was OK...but this was before these systems hit me. I am still on mostly liquids and some soft foods...so maybe it is getting used to soft foods again...who know...but thought I'd ask you guys what ya thought...

thanks again for all advice!

I had the same issue and was ready to go back to the surgeon then it stopped. I think I over did working out or it was gas. I hope it goes away soon for you too. Best wishes.

My surgeon told me that typically those stabs of pain are the nerves that were cut healing together and learning how to work again!

It's always best to error on the side of caution. It is probably gas, but call your surgeon's office tomorrow and ask them. that's what they're for. CONGRATS! You are now the the BIG LOSER'S TEAM! ;)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
