Day 4 Can't Get Enough In. Yikes

Recommended Posts

So here I am day 4 post op. I cannot seem to get enough in. I have no idea how i'm going to stuff all this Protein and Fluid in me. Evertime I drink it feels like someone stabs me in the gut. I tried to set a timer. But that didn't work either. How long should it take me to drink an 8 oz bottle of Water?

I am on day 5 post op and I cannot get in 8oz. I sip most of the day (but not for an hour after I eat). It sounds like you are having spasms. I have been having them too. Things got better yesterday (day 4). Make sure you are sitting up straight when you drink. Warm goes down better than cold. Maybe drink room temp. Hope things improve for you soon. Melanie:)

Im 3 weeks post op and i still have that problem. Maybe u can try what my doctors office suggested to me. Take a medcine cup they equal one ounce. It should take you 5 minutes to drink that. Its easier to time that way. Let me know how u make out. Good luck

Do not rush yourself. You are only a few days post op. I know that I was not getting in much in the first few days and each day seemed to get a little better. I was drinking Protein Shakes that had 14g of Protein in 8 ox. I went to Musclemax and got a flavored fruit drink that had 40g of protein in 2 scoups. It takes like berry fruit punch. At least you can try and get in most of your protein if not all of your Water to start. Just do the best that you can and it will all come. Try to get in as much Fluid as possible. Jello is also good and can be counted as fluid. Keep up the fight.

Don't worry and don't try to rush. Just get in what you can. You can sip the Water all day. Don't gulp or try to drink alot at once. I am 11 weeks out and I can have anything to eat and 8 oz. at a time, and I cannot get 8 oz. in. It will get easier after the first week. Just take in slow and you will be OK. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
