How Can I Break My Scale Addiction?

Recommended Posts

Honestly, it has gotten to a bad point with me. I was weighing myself more then once a day, cut that back to once a day but I am constantly tempted to hop on the scale to see what it says. I have somehow managed to only weigh myself every other day for the past couple times. But even now I am feeling the temptation to weigh myself. I am obsessing over the numbers and want help in figuring out how to at the most weigh myself once a week.

I don't know if anyone can help me kick my scale addiction but I figure it can't hurt to ask.

Thanks!

Put it in your closet! Bring it out once or twice a week...I'm still trying to break the habit, but I've done pretty well now weighing weekly. I do cheat occasionally but nothing compared to when I weighed morning, noon, and at night it was INSANE!

yea this is a tough one. I weight daily when I wake up..but I RECORD my weight on a calendar only on Mondays. That way I can only use the "formal" number on the calendar for my tracking. In my head I've trained myself the monday number is the only one that counts...

I read on here where someone brought thier scale over to thier Mom's house.....lol. Closet does not work for me. I have asked my husband to hide it but when he seen me digging from room to room he gave up doing that.

Guilty...

I didn't weigh for like 6 months prior to surgery and now I jump on the scale every time I pee! It's ridiculous. I think I am going to put it in the closet.

I thougth I was the only one.....I was weighing myself every single time I walked into the bathroom. I too have gotten myself down to just in the mornings. I think because that is when I weigh the least. Makes me feel even better about my progress. :) I want to get to the point where I weigh just once a week.

If hiding it won't work, you could always try giving it away it a friend or family member and then only weigh yourself at their house once or twice a month.

Smashing the scale with a sledgehammer might be liberating.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
