Hardest thing so far is that I actually gained a pound this week, but that was my own doing. Best thing, hearing everyone say how great I look, or that they didn't recognize me.

Best thing about VSG--losing 94 lbs and wearing size 6

Worst thing about VSG--having to buy all new size 6 clothes! I've spent a lot, even though I try to shop at thrift stores.

Bedhead, would you still do it all over again, even after your complications?

Worst/hardest: Still have to work pretty hard, and waiting for the results.

Best: I have HOPE that I haven't had in decades. And, I already feel so much better! I spent a lot of years waiting to be thin to start living, and it wasn't happening.

worst- nausea from the anesthesia

best- knowing that this surgery saved my life, I know that all those obesity complication like diabetes and high blood pressure are not right around the corner anymore. I am becoming a healthier person by the minute! :D

Worst: nausea from anasthesia, unexplained nausea in subsequent weeks, not being able to binge (hey, food was the live of my life!), sometimes feeling like I'm missing out as others are eating a meal, the too-full sick feeling I get from eating just a little bit too much

Best: the quick weight loss, esp at the beginning; not being able to binge (yup, it goes in both categories); shopping in my closet; feeling like I control food instead of vice versa.

I don't really think that I can answer this with any deep certainty right now because I'm not even a full month away from surgery yet. Right now I hate what I've done to myself and my family... But I'm trying to trust the process and have faith that by 3 months postop I will be thrilled with my decision.

Worst/Hardest: The irrational fears of failing. I know that I would NEVER fail with this tool coz I'm pretty much an obedient patient and follow EVERYTHING my doc says. But at times I have this fear that I may not lose as much as I and my doc expect.

Best: I have asthma but for the past two months I haven't once used my asthalin inhaler!! I'm able to walk and climb stairs without needing my inhaler! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
