Saggy Arms.... Avoidable?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I am still pre-op but am getting sleeved on March 23rd!

I have been reading a lot about saggy skin but most of those topics address stomach skin. Although I am worried about that I am more concerned about arm skin. I would LOVE to wear a tank top! I am only 20 and love in sunny Santa Barbara so I would love to wear a cute sleeveless dress!

I am about 254 so I hope that helps a bit!

Did you have bat wings after you were at goal?

How can I help reduce them?

Since you are young, you may have better luck than most of us. However, I'm doing what I can to help my batwings. I do light weights and high repetitions of biceps curls, triceps extensions, etc. Peacequeen posted a video yesterday with the proper form for triceps extensions.

I had no muscle in my arm before surgery and I'm seeing pretty good results from the routine I'm doing, although I do still have bat wings. But, I'm 45, so I kind of expect to have some sagging skin since I've been heavy since I was 23.

I have been working out at my local Curves for just shy of 8 years now (my 8 year will be in April 2012) and I've been going about 3-5x a week for those entire 8 years. I have added in extra arm work since being sleeved 16 months ago and I do still have bat wings (I'm 40.) BUT, I have noticed something even in just the last 3-4 months...I'm starting to LOSE the bat wings. I don't think they will ever go away completely (without surgery which I'm not planning on doing) SO just work on your arms, and don't be sad if you don't get instant results. These things take time, so have patience and keep working on it!

I'm 6 months post surgery & have no sagging in my arms or legs, very little in my stomach. That being said I have been hitting the gym hard for over 2 years with a routine that alternates between high rep fat burn & heavy weight muscle build.

what i have started to do and have in the past is 2 lb weight bars(can of Soup works too), while watching tv, or when u r sitting, just do the curls with the bars, overtime it will tighten up, once i started walking lots, i took the bars with me on the walk and this also helped with the bat wings, i also bought ankle weights, while sitting u can use also just by lifting your legs,

Good luck! I really hope you don't get the bat wings. For me, even when I was a kid I had really heavy arms and as I lose weight, they may lose fat but the skin is just sooooo stretched. I know I am going to need an arm lift.
