skinnynaked 7 Posted March 1, 2012 Did anyone go to Mexico for surgery WITHOUT a passport or passport card? I am told that I can get over with my license, social security card and birth certificate...If you came back across the border without a passport was it difficult? My surgery is March 23 and I don't think there is enough time and I don't want to pay the extra expedite fees. Thanks for your imput!!! 1 energeticmonique reacted to this

SlimSneezy 16 Posted March 1, 2012 My sister went to TJ in December and the coordinator told her she did not need a passport numerous times. And she didn't. She just showed the border patrol her driver's license and certified birth certificate and she was good to go. I think maybe because they were in a medical services shuttle van. I applied for a passport card in December and did not pay extra for the speedy service and I still got it back in 13 days. I couldn't believe how quick I got it. mesaucedo 207 Posted March 1, 2012 You can go to a passport agency office to get it way faster. It looks like DC has one. I think they do it on the spot. http://travel.state.gov/passport/npic/agencies/agencies_902.html
kemo46 82 Posted March 1, 2012 You will not have any issues as long as you have a certified copy of your birth certificate and driver's license.
mesaucedo 207 Posted March 2, 2012 I also heard that starting 2012 it is required for both directions. I guess it used to be pretty lax but not anymore. :/
