hey guys

First of all you are all truly an insertion. Weather you have had the surgery, in the process(which is the stage I'm in, insurance stuff) or just researching the sleeve you have all helped me with reading your stories and blogs. Im reaching out to you for some help. I hope to have my sleeve may/ June and am very excited. My husband who is also my number1 fan is a little nervous. His moms friend passed away from complications having gastric bypass. He loves me how I am. With that said he understands how hard I work to lose weight and realizes that I just don't lose enough to be in the healthy stage. He also realizes that I will finally be healthy for our 8 month year old twins. We both are very athletic and do triathlons together. However since the weight I would never be able to compete. Soooo....I was wondering if you guys had any advice for him, support from people who have had the surgery. Things your family or spouses felt. Pain that you were in early on(he hates to see me in pain). Just anything I could share with him and let him read. I could let him read the whole site but that might take too long haha Thanks for allyour help!!!

Why don't you try copying and pasting some of the entries you have been inspired by, both the positive and negative experiences so he gets a balanced look at it all. Also show him the stats about how the VSG has less complications. Even better- how about meeting up with some "sleevers" with him?

I was hovering a little about making a decision at first and then recently met up with some amazing ladies who have been through the surgery. They didn't sugar coat the negative things and were totally up front about problems they faced as well as their personal victories. Just seeing them looking so healthy and happy in the flesh and hearing that they did it in spite of fear and pain etc and don't regret it for a moment was an epiphany. You know who you are, ladies- thank-you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
