Your story is nothing to laugh about, it is serious stuff, I guess if you did make a mistake it was more how the title of the thread started. I for 1 hope you find the peace and happiness. Life throws us curve balls, we all can handle it.

Kim - Sorry you went through all of this. This is something that no one should go through. Sounds like you got the wrong end of the deal here. Praying for you that things turn out right.

THANK YOU.

You are the most straight up person in this group.

I believe that the OP really feels something awful happened and an injustice was done to her. However, as a RN of almost 16 years (8 working in the hospital), I have had a few patients who dramatize things due to various reasons. Medication given in the hospital can make one wonky. Just the fact of having surgery can make one "off" for a bit. There are times I was accused of hiding the call button when in fact the patient dropped it on the floor!

The fact that OP lost so much blood can temporarily deprive the brain of oxygen. That also can cause perception to be way off. OP claims the whole state of LA is corrupted? Come on. OP I am sorry that you had a complication and were so sick for a bit. Yes, you could be recalling everything correctly. BUT, if a medical review board and all those lawyers don't agree with you then maybe, just maybe you are not remembering correctly?

I also think you should get to another surgeon and get checked out. I also think maybe it would help you to talk to a professional about this as you do sound traumatized from it. Best of luck.

I believe OP's story. I think some of the details may be a little fuzzy to her, but I wholeheartedly believe that the government, medical staff, and lawyers can be a shady bunch. Just looking at what happened during hurricane Katrina taught me that the powers that be DONT CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE. All they care about is money.

This is really hard to follow. I think I understand that you wanted an attorney to take this on "pro bono" and give the monetary award to charity? I don't understand why an attorney would take this case for nothing.

I understand that you are upset about what happened to you, and you came on this forum very upset. Right out of the gate you are typing in all caps, and you must admit, coming across as more interested in dramatics than in calmly relating facts.

Maybe take a step back and try to respond more calmly with logic, rather than cattiness. I don't think anyone here is jealous of anything. I think a slower, more thoughtful account would help your story be heard better, rather than responding with "sweetie" and "jealous".

If all this really happened, then your story has value, and that shouldn't be lost in the drama. But also, some people are not going to be satisfied with the way things worked out in a medical situation, and they will be out for revenge. I think you should think, how do you want to be viewed, and go from there. My two cents, probably not even worth that.

I thought I'd jump in here. I live in LA I even had a consult with her same Dr. I was going to use the same hospital mentioned as well. Now all that being said the Dr. Is excellent one of the best in the country. The hospital on the other hand is a whole other story. My friend is a nurse here and begged me not to use that hospital and if I had to change Dr.'s just so I would go to that hospital. I haven't had my surgery yet but I chose a different Dr and and much better hospital.

As for her daughter being an attorney I believe she's telling the truth Louisiana is unique because it still follows napolianic law so to practice here is much harder and unique.

This state is very crooked its all about who you know. Welcome to the deep south. This state has even said multiple times it would re-elect a govenor who was found guilty of corruption. Smh.

Not to say there aren't some holes but I thought I'd give another Louisiana perspective. I've lived in several different places and traveled all over and can honestly say Louisiana is backwards in a lot. Just my 2 cents

Please consider getting resleeved in Mexico for 4500-5500$. I would be peeved if I had surgery and did not lose the weight. Or consider a resleeve and duodenal switch surgery in Mexico or somewhere it is affordable. If you can afford it in the States, then do it. DON"T let your problems after surgery make you bitter & angry. Consider these options to get the weight off and I guarantee you will not fear as bitter and angry. As far as suing the doctor, keep trying to do what you need to do to get it sorted out. I mean I am sure they didn't even apologize? That would tick me off. Even an apology would probably work.

1. I can't find a Lawyer in Louisiana to take this case because they said it is too hard to prove MP

It cost too much, It takes too long & there is no serious damage. If I lost a limb, became

paralyzed or had any physical damage, then they would take this case.

2. If I can't get a Lawyer to take this case then I would like to get a Pro Bono Lawyer and donate

the money to a charity.

3. i just don't want the lying Doctors, Hospital & Lawyers to get away with this.

4. I am more angry at the review panel for lying thru their teeth.

5. I am not trying to get anything that does not rightfully belong to me.

6. I am not lying about one thing.

7. Ask your Lawyer if they would take this case. Make sure they know about LA Law.

I guarantee they would tell you the same thing.

8. You have to understand Louisiana Law. If this was a BS slip n fall case, there would be a line

of Lawyers wanting the case. If this was an auto accident. They would send you to their Doctors,

The more you go to a doctor, the more money they get.

With my case...they would have to work too much & it's not worth their time.

IN FRONT OF GOD...THIS IS THE TRUTH.

I use caps a lot because i wear glasses.

Glasses off when caps on.

Sorry if that offends anyone.

I'm not screaming.

Thank You....

At last, I found someone that can validate my story.

Been fighting these people all day long.

They think i am some nut that needs attention.

Came to this site thinking i could get some info and support.

Another mistake.

The Doctor did the same surgery for my sister.

This is how we knew something was still wrong when I came home.

I vomited everytime I ate.

I still vomit almost everytime I eat, unless I take one bite.

My sister lost 100 lbs in one year.

She went to another hospital, Not St.Eliz.

If you have this surgery, just make someone stay all day/night with you.

I was bleeding to death & could not get anyone to help me.

If someone was with me... they would have ran down the hall to get the Nurses.

That is the reason why I sued the Doctor.

I asked him to call me, to tell me what happened.

He did not call so I waited to the last day then filed the suit.

He is so cute. I never wanted to sue him.

I wanted to find out what happened & why.

He did not even come to my hospital room.

He did not even check me out on my 2 week visit.

His nurse Holly checked me out.

I asked her what happened.

She said I was bleeding internally, thats why I was in so much pain.

She said, Girl you were gone for 3 days. We didn't think you were coming back.

she said, This has never happened before.

she said, The lost 1 patient and he died months later fm other complications, not the surgery.

I go to Cozumel often but I only stay a few hours.

I found a place to do botox but they are not much cheaper than USA.

Thank you for your comment and support.

Amazing how many people trash me because i'm angry because the surgery did not work,

I can't eat, I am still fat and I am out of the $15,000 cash that I paid.

Not to mention the hundreds on Rx and Vitamins and $350 for my medical records.

Then I get thrown under the bus by this Louisiana Medical Review Panel.

Today, I told my story on this site & got trashed like a sneakly, lying, scum.

Poof!

Ok with this being said, I get a better picture of what you are like, you have a wall up , u have been hurt, disappointed, people maybe around you that are not supportive, so do not take this the wrong way but you come across as a hard azz, to protect your feelings, but I bet you are a ***** cat underneath,, my suggestion is to start over take a deep breath, and re write your story, from beginning to end, not bits and pieces in several posts but the whole story in one post, by the way I am a sweetie lol :)

NO, I did not want pro bono.

I can't get any Louisiana Lawyer to take this case but I am still trying.

If I have too, I will try to get a Pro Bono Lawyer then i will donate the money to charity.

I own an Insurance Agency. I have helped a lot of people get this surgery.

I still get calls fm women/men thanking me for saving their life.

The moral to my story is:

IF YOU HAVE THIS SURGERY....

Make Sure Someone Spends The Night With You.

That's my opinion.

That's where I made my mistake that could have cost my life.

I am not saying that you are lying. I just think that you might step back and present your story in a calmer manner. Maybe, since you are going to share this with other people, most likely beyond this board, spend some time on writing it out, like a time line, the "5 Ws", etc.

I too have horrid eyesight. Typing in all caps makes it much harder for other people to concentrate on what you are saying. Can you perhaps change your screen resolution so that you don't need the caps? It really does interfere with the delivery of your message.

I don't think people want to point out holes in your story. I think people are reacting to the delivery is all. It seems very emotional and like key points are missing. That isn't the same as lying. It is just hard to follow.

And I totally agree, if you have this surgery it is ideal to have your own advocate in the room with you the whole time.

I think malpractice is hard to prove anywhere you go, especially with medicine not being an exact science. There are really crappy hospitals out there, unfortunately sometimes the best doctor is operating out of a crappy hospital. That was the case with my husband's back surgery. I was planning on staying overnight just to be with him, but it became quite apparent that I needed to stay because it was in his best interest.

I have a dear friend who had a horrid time after bypass, and was in the hospital/ICU for weeks due to infection. It was terrible. But, things happen, and it was not malpractice.

The part about the nurses probably boils down to "She said/they said" and it would be hard to prove that. Why there is no record of the 911 call? Did you submit a records request to the police department? That is how the calls are routed around here: directly to the police dispatch, and then routed to the service needed. All those calls are recorded and retained for a set period of time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
