rgiand71 3 Posted February 29, 2012 Hi everyone! I was just wondering, on average, about how long it takes after surgery to get back, full strength, to the gym? I really enjoy working out at the gym instead of just the usual walking but if that is what needs to be done for quite a while, then I can deal with it.... I have a treadmill at home and enjoy walking oustide, but just trying to get an idea when I'll be able to get back in the gym? Thanks for any responses.. Lissa 2,631 Posted February 29, 2012 I was told 8 weeks before I could start lifting weights. Your doc may have a different guideline.
Lilee84 648 Posted February 29, 2012 I have my 1 month follow-up today at 2 and I'll be asking this question. I'm dying to get back in the gym!
goldenraisin214 142 Posted February 29, 2012 I was told 3 weeks for cardio (treadmill, elliptical, etc,) and to wait for my next appt (which will be about 5-6 weeks from surgery) to ask about weights and ab exercises.
