Almost Fainted This Morning! Help

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I had a scare this morning while in the shower getting ready for my 1st day at work since surgery.

I started feeling really dizzy and almost fainted/blacked out! My face was ghost white and I was

really really weak. I called my dr's office, but waiting for them to call me back. Has this happened

to anyone and what I can do to prevent this??? I was soo scared. :(

When was your surgery? Could be a deficiency of some sort (vitamin, mineral, electroyte, fluids)... don't take chances. Talk to your doc.

Could be Vitamin deficency like topgun suggested. Low Iron, etc. Are you laying down with your feet up now? It would be a great idea if your not already. Talking with your doc is an excellent suggestion. You will be okay. ;)

My dr's office finally called back and she said that i need to have more Protein. so I'm drinking a Protein shake now and I feel like I have more energy. She said that I have to drink 2 Protein drinks per day that count as my Fluid intake.

I am one week postop...

I had the exact same thing happen. I wasn't getting enough Water or Protein in. I felt sick to my stomach so i couldnt take in much, I ended up dehydrated in the hospital a few days later. Watch your intake and good luck (:

Are you on any meds? You may need to adjust them.

I would probably call off working today - or driving, playing with sharp objects at the top of the stairs, etc....

This happens to me when I am dehydrated. I try to meet my Fluid intake every day.

This used to happen to me when I was hardcore dieting and working out. It was from dehydration and lack of calories. I would down a spoon of honey for sugar energy and then drink lots of Water or a shake.

Hope this was your last time! Fainting can be scary.

That is what I was wondering. Sometimes if you're on high blood pressure meds before surgery, you need to reduce or stop them afterwards....

drink your Protein Shake before you take your shower in the morning if at all possible.

Your sodium may be too low. When I was on a liquid diet before, this happened to me often, and it was that I was not consumig anough sodium. Drink some Pickle Juice. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
