gettingthere 11 Posted February 28, 2012 http://www.nhs.uk/news/2012/02February/pages/metabolism-changes-during-weight-loss-diets.aspx A number of interesting facts in this article including a link for a weight simulator that allows people to calculate how many calories you need to cut from your diet to get to target. Interestingly, A clinical trial comparing low fat and low carb diets is recruiting in the US. I wish I could join but I don't live there. the link is in the article if you are interested. 1 ldydrgnkpr reacted to this
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted March 8, 2012 The weight simulator is pretty cool... It shows me very close to the predicted weight... I am only 6 1/2 pounds over the predicted weight... It shows I can eat 1500 cals to lose to the desired weight of 160.... I do exercise a little more than the level I chose... I ate a little less than the 1500 cals early on... (even how Im often less than that trying to stay around 1250) But all in all, pretty darn close! http://bwsimulator.niddk.nih.gov/

I would love to see the results though!

feedyoureye 3,087 Posted May 1, 2013 Hey Feed, my computer won't get to the site, can you go there for me and tell me what it says? height 5'3" current weight 189, target weight 130, age 31. I did not know what your activity level was so estimated light for work, and active for extra activities.... here is a couple of screen images....
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted May 1, 2013 Globe, I will change the activity levels or the time to lose the weight if you let me know what you want...
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted May 2, 2013 Thanks Feed, so my activity level is probably higher than that - I do hard cardio 30 min every day and 30 min yoga/weight training every day. Also, I am currently eating 750 cals a day and would like to see 130 (or thereabouts) in 90ish days, not 190.
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted May 2, 2013 You want to lose 59 pounds in 90 days?... I'll see what it says and post....but......what a difference 100 days make...
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted May 2, 2013 Can you teach me how to read it?
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted May 2, 2013 Woah, I can reach that goal in 90 days by eating 200 calories a day?! Anorexics eat more than that!! How long would it take by eating 700 calories a day?
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted May 2, 2013 you can lose your weight in 120 days at 734 cals and the expenditure level you are doing now...then maintain at 2300(still doing the sam exercises) this is a computer model, not tested on human.
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted May 3, 2013 Still, this reassures me a lot, thanks Feed! I was 189 a week ago, then 3 days later went up to 191 and have now been there for 3 days ... I didn't add any salt to my lunch today, had some caffeine in my coffee, and will drink a lot of Water today. any other reasons why this might have occurred? CharmingTortoise 83 Posted May 3, 2013 Wow, this was really cool! Book marking that for sure
missmeow 156 Posted May 3, 2013 How do you estimate the change in activity level? It is set at percentages, so it's hard to quantify?
