Ms. Scarlett 6 Posted February 28, 2012 I have started on the pureed stage (2 1/2 weeks post op) and have only been able to eat no more than 1 1/2 teaspoons of food. I have had a sweet potatoe, cottage cheese and Soup. When I tried the sweet potatoe and ate a little too much I immediately threw up. Is that a normal amount to start with and how long does it take to be able to eat more than that? I mean, at some point, will I be able to eat more- I realize that my meals will be small, but just how much?

AliveAgain 283 Posted February 28, 2012 Yes, this is normal and you will find you can take a little bit more day by day. I am four weeks and can now eat 3/4-cup of cottage cheese in under 45 minutes. I would advise staying away from sweet potato for a few more weeks or months since they are on the list of "high" carb/sugar vegetables. They are very nutritious, yes, but at this early stage throwing that much carb/sugar on your liver/pancreas may not settle well. Have you tried plain Greek yogurt yet? Be patient, your stomach will tell you when it's ready for more!
