Did The Dr Really Set My Goal For 100Lbs?

Recommended Posts

OMG! So in my mind I thought 100 lbs lost would be nice! That would put back to my High school weight and I was not overweight then.

But when the Dr set my goal yesterday I was taken aback. WHAT?! Really??!

I think that someone else verbalizing your thoughts may scare you. Because Lawd knows I hate failure and now I have a standard to live up too.

Im 3 weeks out and this is the final meals week before my pre op diet.

Any suggestions on getting the biggest bang for my cuts?!LOL

I have to do this and I have to do it well.

Did you know pre op if you were going to be a slow loser? :(

I haven't been a slow loser, and from what I gather there's really no way to tell how you'll lose as we all lose at different rates.

BUT....

Slow and steady wins the race baby! I'd rather be the tortoise than the hare!

I knew I was going to be on the slower side of losing until other issues were dealt with. Now I'm hoping it speeds up. I haven't done all _that_ bad. I mean, I've lost more weight than I would have without the sleeve.. I'm a month out and I've lost 22 lbs since my surgery date. That's 5.5 pounds per week. I'd love for it to be way more, but its just not. I know I need to exercise more and that will happen. The small setback with my incisions did inhibit that a bit. Because I was doing too much, I had to back off - so the only exercise I have been doing has been walking. I need to up that - and a lot. So here goes!

I thought I was going to be painfully slow- but I've almost lost 30lbs at the 3 week mark.

I did think it was going to be a bit faster, seeing how much I do have to lose. Hopefully getting the exercise going will definitely speed it up. I feel my clothes getting looser and I see it in my face, so hopefully my body catches up!

If you are asking about how to gain more before you start your post op, the "food funerals" I would say why?

Small meals of your favorite foods, moderation, and dealing with the issues that are affecting you still - no offense but why the desire to do that? these are the things stressed to us to conquer before the surgery.

I have heard of the food funerals, but I took it as an opportunity to address my cravings and I think it has helped me soooo much.

Not preaching, observing. I always "question" - without questions we rarely have answers.

I had my surgery on 8/27/12 and am averaging 4.3 lb.'s a week. My exercise is walking, I guess I would lose more if I ? How has your journey gone since this post of yours in February?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
