How was your travel and stay? I am terrified to go across and into Mexico. My family keeps pulling up articles and such of the crime trying to scare me. I laugh it off but I am scared!!

You know how I look at it....you are with the driver when you leave the hospital and go to the hotel, and you don't have to leave the hotel grounds if you don't want. I agree with ShoeLover, there is crime everywhere, just use common sense and don't go in bad areas and you will be fine.

But I do understand the concern. :)

I am having sleeve surgery with Dr. Garcia on April 11, 2012. I am so excited. Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences. I can't wait to be on the losing side of this weight loss battle. Did any of you do the pre-op diet? How was it? I was told I would need to do the pre-op diet for 10 -14 days due to my BMI.

Wel last night I went to the ER thinking it was my gall bladder, but they said it is my band. Luckily my insurance will pay for the removal. I am suppose to get it out either Tuesday or Thursday thank goodness. I am more than ready. I guess after the healing time from that then I will try to schedule for sometime in may. I just hope Dr.Garcia will still do a sleeve for me since my bmi is already 30.2. I know they do the removal to sleeve with a low bmi but since it will already be out I'm thinking he will say no:(

I was wondering how hard it is to actually do the pre op diet and how much weight does it make you lose?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
