Nsv - Back To The Things I Love.

Recommended Posts

I love this community, and have found everyone on here to be so caring and compassionate. Although I will never actually meet many of you, I feel like part of a large sleeve family.

Anyways I just wanted to share my first NSV. As a child I played soccer, it was my favourite thing to do and I would do nothing by look forward to the next time I could play soccer. Then I hit puberty, and started gaining weight. I stuck it out for a few years but at 15 I stopped playing, I couldn't physically keep up, and was depressed. The weight held me back from doing the one thing I truly loved to do. The key word is held, because its not stopping me anymore, now that I am 70 lbs down I have joined soccer for the summer and in the mean time am going to play indoor soccer. My first game is tomorrow, and all I can say is how excited I am to have my life back.

Please feel free to share your NSVs, I love to hear them.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

That is so so great, these are the kinds of things i am looking forward to, living normally without consciously (or unconsciously) making accommodations for being obese.

Thanks everyone! It went great. I am a little rusty and was definitely sore the day after but I had an amazing time. Got another game tomorrow :)

Congrats! This is such a great NSV. I am super proud of you for getting out there and doing it. Many people big or small don't have the courage to get out there and do the things they want whether it be weight or other things. So good for you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
