Meredit 15 Posted February 27, 2012 Hi, I know everyone says that they get pain around their main incision, but is it common to have deep muscle pain 2.5 weeks out? I mentioned this to my doc last Wed and she didn't seem concerned, but it is concerning me! It is my left lower incision, and it is deep below it like in the muscle. I am just worried because I (stupidly) ran up a few flights of stairs last week and that is when the pain started.
circa 333 Posted February 27, 2012 you probably aggrovated the muscle. I wouldn't think too much about it - I had incision tenderness for a while - not the actual incision, but under it - felt like I did too many situps. If it doesn't lessen in the next while, go back to see your doc
Tif 2.0 141 Posted February 27, 2012 I had that same feeling for a few weeks after. Closer to 3 weeks. I emailed my surgeon and he wasn't concerned at all. I just hit a month today and I rarely feel any pain now.
firstday 7 Posted February 27, 2012 I am almost 6 weeks and when I overdue it the pain returns but for a shorter period of time. Yesterday I ran down 3 flights of stairs carrying a large box with a computer and some folders in it and I had the pain this morning. When I wear a heat patch it really helps. AllForMy4 58 Posted February 27, 2012 I also experienced this type of pain until a little past 3 weeks,I slept with a heating pad on my insicions every night,it helped ALOT. Hope you feel better soon!
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted February 28, 2012 Running up those stairs did it! It aggravated that muscle that has the incision in it. When ever I traveled up the mountain, my incision site where the muscle is always got sore with some pain. It lasted about 8 weeks post op. Try not to aggravate the muscle and you will be fine. Meredit 15 Posted February 28, 2012 I didn't have that pain, but Im impressed as heck that you ran up a flight of stairs!! 4 flights : / I WAS LATE FOR MY POST OP APT! Thank you guys for your help, I really appreciate it. I am such a worrier and you have made me feel better. Of course tonight I walked for 1/2 an hour and it is bothering me again I am just happy I took an extra week off from work!
Iliana82 84 Posted February 28, 2012 I had the same pain too. I started wearing a shaper. Not too tight though. It acted like an abdominal binder. Wore it for 2-4 days and pain is gone!
101driver 46 Posted February 28, 2012 Yes! I really had incision pain - the main incision that took the brunt of the work (according to my surgeon). I'm soooo happy to report that a few days ago (I'm four weeks out) I literally felt completely fine upon waking on a morning after a night of burning, localized pain. My doc says that final stitch finally let go. Ahhhhhh... Pain free now and loving life. My doc says it really takes about 4 weeks for that deep, incision pain to subside. Good luck to you. Meredit 15 Posted March 2, 2012 UGH still have the pain a week later!! I called my doctor and she said there is nothing I can do other than what Illana said to wear a binder. I bought a Spanx thing and it makes it hurt so much more! I hope it goes away soon
RossJL 25 Posted March 3, 2012 I have the same thing going on, I'm 11 days post op... Not looking forward to it lasting much longer :-( it really hurts! I wear a post surgery binder like they use for c section patients and it helps me get around with a lot less pain but then all my insides feel smushed after a while and I have to relax for a bit! I was hoping for a much quicker recovery but... What do you do? Just give it all the time it needs to heal because you can't undo it now lol
