I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!

Recommended Posts

We moved away from wingstop and suffered! Luckily there was a local restaurant with good wings - but I LOVE the garlic/parm ones! BW3's has nothing on Wingstop!

I loved the Buffalo Garlic. Those things were like sex to me! LOL! I agree on BW3. I like them but Wingstop was special! We have a few other local places that are good, too.

One bad day is not the end of the world. Don't beat yourself over it. It's been said a thousand times that people diet their way fat. If you deprive yourself TOO much, you will perhaps binge and overeat and it will be a bad cycle. Just be smart and do what you feel is right. No one is perfect.

Thanks Sleeved&Hopeful. I know that deprivation feeling was what always ruined every diet I've tried in the past. But this isn't a diet, this is a lifestyle change. I've gotta remember that. The month of liquid diet has been a killer. I guess I've had that deprivation feeling again.

I really really struggled with the liquid diet and the whole progression to be honest. I understand how you are feeling, but get back on the regular program today. the biggest part that is scary for me is when I make choices that deviate away from what I am supposed to be doing, I almost worry more about the mental ramifications of the excuses I've made for myself, than the physical, though at a month out I would be more worried about that too.

When I start justifying my choices, I know I'm on a slippery slope. Doesn't stop me from doing it sometimes, but I know that stinking thinking is at the bottom of it... (I'm at a family gathering....my sleeve is bigger...I'm testing my limits...it was sugar free....I chewed it well....) I've used every single one of those too, and I know that what everyone told me is the truth that I don't really want to hear.

I do believe we need to be really kind to ourselves though, in this time, and give ourselves credit for the things we do right, and to acknowledge the things we do that arent on plan, don't try to rationalize them, and immediately get back on the plan. Don't beat yourself up, and don't let anyone else beat you up, either.

I think it was MEMEME that turned me onto this book who said that they were going through it in their post-op support group, but i can't say enough good things about The Beck Diet Solution. The name is stupid, with the word Diet in it, so don't let that mislead you. Its not a diet, in any way shape or form. its a great book about retraining our brains to think the right way about eating, food and exercise. Its just simply awesome.

Thank you LoserMama! I'll def look that book up.

Yes, the liquid diet WAS very hard! I have progressed to soft solids so the only thing I ate that I shouldn't have was the french fries because they were fried and the sugary sweets. It doesn't justify it but I wanted to see if I would have a problem with the sugar. I haven't dumped on anything and I know some people do and some people don't. That's what I meant by testing myself to see what I can have. I should have been more clear.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
