Mental Confusion

Recommended Posts

Since this weight loss journey began, I had a goal of what size/weight i wanted to be. My goal is 154 and to wear a size 10. All along this journey people kept telling me not to lose anymore weight (advice given unsolicitated) and calling me skinny  , so i feel I can't trust their opinions..

I still identify myself as a big girl eventhough logically I know I'm not anymore. I'm wearing a size 12 but they are fitting a little loose and I can wear some 10.. my weight have remained basically unchange for 3 months now, with a recent 2 lbs loss (I am now 168) honestly my eating habits have not been great. This weekend, I took a picture of me wearing a dress and I was like oh my god I am small but remember I don't feel small.. My issue is, should I still pursue the goal weight or say enough is enough but i know people tend to gain some weight back (which I am petrified of). The last time I had lost so much weight, I regained it back plus extra before i learn how to maintain it.

My emotions are up and down, one minute I'm feeling good about the weight loss, next I feel fat (because i still have the bad habits that landed me in the fatland) and then fear of regain.

Mina, Only you can decide what the final goal weight should be, but you may want to listen to those who are telling you that you have lost enough. I don't normally advocate listening to others on what is a personal, private decision, but you said that you don't "see" that you're small, except in a picture. Are you healthy and fit at the current weight? If so, it might be time for you to start maintaining instead of working on losing.

If I remember correctly, even Lil Miss Diva is in the 160-170 range, and I think she's a huge success with her surgery. I'm not suggesting you judge yourself by someone else, but it was eye-opening to me because I would estimate from Irene's pictures that she weighs much less than 160. :)

thanks for the advice.. I know i shouldn't be so obsessed on a number but on how I look overall. I guess since i never really learn how to maintain my weight loss, I feel like I will start gaining again.. I will focus on working out and eating as healthy as possible and see what happen

You truly can only decide if you should keep on to your original goal. One thing that I heard suggested to help with the body image issue is, for each mini goal that you reach, take pictures of yourself from all angles. put those pictures up around the mirror you look in. Compare what you see to the pictures. Pictures don't lie, mirrors do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
