Pain And Burning Feeling Under My Skin

Recommended Posts

Hello my fellow VSG friends. I'm 2 weeks out and have been feeling great up intill last night. I have a sharp burning pain between my two top incision every time I sit or stand. It feels like it's right under my skin ,maybe in the muscle area. Has anyone had these pains or started having pains weeks out? Help

I would go see the doc - a sudden change from fine to pain doesn't sound normal to me. Have you done anything to yourself that could have caused this? Lifted something heavy, had a blow to the area, etc?

I am not a doctor or medical person, so I err on the side of caution.

Good Luck. Let us know what you decide.

Sharon

I had a similar thing. I had my sleeve on 2/8. My sutures are "spitting" They are supposed to be absorbable, but my body doesn't like that. My surgeon says that they will trim the ends that have spit out, but they do have a burning type feeling. I would definitely call your surgeon though. Any change in pain is a reason for a call.

Thanks for the comments! I talked to my Dr.'s RN and she said this is pretty common if you over due it to early. My staples are pulling on my muscles causing the burning pain. She said take it easy, heating pad and pain meds for a fee day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
