New To The Site...9Th Surgery Date, Not Doing Well

Recommended Posts

My name is Nicole and I am new to the site. My surgery date was the 9th and I am still not doing well. I can't eat soft foods and most fluids HURT going down and often come back up. In the two weeks since surgery I have lost 20lbs. Has anyone else had trouble with fluids/foods two weeks out? I have a nurse following up with me every other day but she is at a loss. Any suggestions?

So sorry you aren't doing so well. Try drinking warm drinks like hot tea. You may need an acid reducer, so ask your doctor. I would sip 5 hour energy to help make me feel better in the beginning. Please be careful so you don't get dehydrated. Hugs. It will get better, it just takes time to heal.

So sorry you're feeling bad. =( I would def try to sip on some hot herbal tea,or some chicken broth. Anything warm or hot really soothes the sleeve. The stomach endured quite a bit during surgery with that long staple line,so it can be swollen for a while. Everyone varies I'm sure. Placing a call to your actual doctor wouldn't hurt. Hope you feel better soon!

warmer liquids sit better with some people, other people, cold. My sleeve likes cold drinks and Hot Drinks. I couldn't do room temperature. Your progress is GREAT! 20 lbs in 2 weeks! Wowzers! Definitely see the doc - you don't want to get dehydrated! Try maybe some gatorade - that seems to sit well with people - the sobe lifewaters do as well.
