kat17 0 Posted August 2, 2006 What exactly does the doctor ask when you go for a fill? I have my first one next week. Thanks, Kathy
lisah25 3 Posted August 2, 2006 It seems to vary a lot. Mine are free for one year, then $150 after that.
NJChick 3 Posted August 2, 2006 My doc ask's how I am doing. I either tell him I need a fill b/c I can eat a cow or i don't need a fill. If I'm losing a decent amount of weight he won't give me a fill. Thats about it.... pretty simple.
beachgirl 2 Posted August 15, 2006 He ask me how I was feeling, how much could I eat, was I following the bandster diet, weighed me, measured me and them the poking began. After 3 or 4 pokes and no port Dr. Curry took me to fluro and found it 2 inches over from my port scar and he said it was the low profile and harder to get to and he hit it first time under fluro. Then, the dietician went over stuff with me, then I paid the 300.00 and left for the LONG drive home. That was it.
PhotoNut 7 Posted August 15, 2006 Mine was very specific at my monthly follow up exams. He asks if I have been throwing up. How am I tolerating breads (trick question I think, I always answer - Wouldnt know, dont touch the stuff. - which is true). He asks how often I eat, how much I eat, and do I snack between meals. He asks if I feel I'm doing this on will power or am I just not hungry between meals. His goal is to give me enough restriction to where I eat 3 times a day, with no Snacks. Each meal should be about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food. I should not be hungry between meals. I should be eating a minimum of 60 grams of Protein per day. If he hears that I'm hungry between meals, snacking, or able to eat large quantities, he suggests a fill. If I am having pains, struggling with eating a good variety of foods, then he suggests an unfill. My Dr. has never based my fills on a time table. It's all about how I'm doing each month, and I'm grateful for that. He's awesome
Leona06 0 Posted August 15, 2006 My doc asks me to bring a 3 day food diary - with the amount of protien, Water, Vitamins, amounts and what times I am eating. I had my first fill yesterday... The nurse looked at my diary and determined i needed a fill - which I was sure because I gained 4 pounds from the last vist. Then the doc came in, asked me about exercise and such and then went a head and did it. First poke! Don't worry too much about the fill, its not that bad and my doc doesn't even numb it, so it can't be that bad!
