Cheles 75 Posted February 25, 2012 Today was a first. Today we went to Arby's for lunch. I ordered a Beef and Cheddar and actually ate 1/2 of it. Then, over the next 5-hours; I ate the other half. Yay, I actually ate a 1 sandwich in a 5-hour period. Booo...it really wasn't a good choice.
MegInNOLA 531 Posted February 25, 2012 Seems like you're aware that might not have been your best option. :-) If you can tolerate that type of food and you want to incorporate it into the larger picture of your diet, just be sure to count it appropriately--log the calories and carbs and Protein just as you would any other food. I'm someone who feels that no food should be "off limits" or "not allowed," as long as there's a clear understanding of what consuming that food might mean in terms of weight loss/stall or increased sodium, etc. etc. 2 pussnboots and fluffylibra30 reacted to this
grannyk 58 Posted February 25, 2012 Cheles, don't beat yourself too bad for your choice. Eating one sandwich over 5 hours? A year ago, you might have eaten the sandwich in 5 minutes. And then you would have had who knows what the rest of the day. It looks like you are doing pretty well since surgery, so put it behind you and consider how much Protein you got from the beef and cheddar. Kathe
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted February 26, 2012 It is so easy to make bad choices. I just ate some See's Candy! Yep, that's right, See's Candy! It is definately a slider and I gave in to my head hunger. LOL My stomach is very angry at me right now. Happy Saturday to ya all.

IowaAndy 95 Posted February 26, 2012 I think that I would have eaten the roast beef and lost the bread. The other day I was hungry for fish so stopped at Arbys and to just the fish patty to bring home. It lasted me 2 meals. I do not think that I am anywhere ready for bread at 10 weeks out. I crave it but I can wait.
Doreykn 113 Posted February 26, 2012 I was thinking about Arby's the other day...minus the bread, but the line was to long. Soooo, I took that as a sign I shouldn't eat it. It's better than McDonald's (not greasy)!
clk 3,519 Posted February 26, 2012 Meh. There are worse choices you could make. To me, the most important thing is logging what you eat and staying within your particular set of nutritional guidelines. We're in this for the long haul. We chose an irreversible surgery and asking ourselves to live forever on the Atkins diet is a bit unrealistic. Sure, you could make better choices. At least you're cognizant of that fact. I think knowing that we have the option of eating just about whatever we want is what makes choosing healthy food 90% of the time easy. Feeling deprived and restricted makes us angry, resentful and more likely to binge on slider foods. Good for you - five hours on one sandwich? Remember the old days? I might have eaten two sandwiches, fries and a jamocha shake back before surgery. ~Cheri

This sandwich lasted two meal, and I didn't go over my daily limts on carbs. In fact, it was the 1st time in months I actually exceeded 30-carbs. I generally stay around 30. My limits are 30-60. Carbs were my large part of my life. I've not really missed them or candy or sweets. If I am really wanting something I do have a piece (fun size) of candy or a bite or two of bread. That's all I need. The odd part about all this sandwich was it was the 1st time in 2-months my sleeve quit making bubbling noises. That's not to say I'm going to have a sandwich daily, but it was nice not listening to it bubble for hours.
