Ovarian Cysts?

Recommended Posts

I am just curious as to how many of you have or have had ovarian cysts? I thought I had PCOS since I had alot of the symptoms but my OB/GYN said they treat it with birth control which I was going on anyway. I heard that cysts are one of the comorbidities.

I have several cysts on my ovaries. One burst a few years ago and I even had to have surgery. The worst pain I have ever felt in my life!

Sad but at least I can add that to the list since the more the better lol. My mother, sister and aunt had them too and all are overweight.

I had what was called 'endometrial' cysts that would come up monthly and burst. I think this was the precursor to what is now called PCOS. I guess this dates me. :), no one ever labeled me having PCOS. They just told me I had large ovarian cysts which appeared to come frequently and blow my fallopian tubes apart when they ruptured. Yup, it hurt too..

I had PCOS many, many years ago when they called it "Stein Levinthaul Syndrome" (spelling may be inaccurate). They tried to disolve my cysts with BC pills, too but they just got worse and finally removed them surgically (dozens of cysts, some as big as plums). I had "bleeding ovaries" thereafter (very painful), though not every month.

Sometimes being a girl really sucks.

I have PCOS and also have several cysts on my ovaries. However, it is important to remember (despite the name) that even though you may have ovaries on your cysts....it does NOT mean you necessarily have PCOS. Lots of women have ovarian cysts but do not actually have PCOS (lucky for them).

I had an ovarian cyst soooo painful, it was even worse when it ruptured. Man just thinking about it makes me cringe. I don't have PCOS but i do have endometriosis, if your periods are really painful ask your ob/gyn about it.

I think that's what I had....ovaries on my cysts. I definitely had more cysts than ovaries.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
