Old Navy=Awesome. Faded Glory=Mean.

Recommended Posts

I finally cracked and went shopping for some new jeans. I received 3 secondhand pairs from my aunt, one of which is starting to get too big already, a size 20. One of the other pairs she gave me was a size 18W from the brand Faded Glory. Man, when I attempted to fit into those babies, I might as well have been trying on a size 6. Well, imagine my crushed disappoint. Here I thought I was finally seeing some difference in size in my lower half (because believe me, I can definitely tell in my upper body!) but yet, I couldn't even shimmy into the next size down?

To make a long story somewhat shorter, I went into Old Navy because they're having an amazing sale on jeans. Well, I pick up a size 20 and a size 18 to try on. I just decided to humor myself with the size 18s, because if I couldn't even get the 18W over my thighs, what makes me think that I could even fit into an 18? I try on the 20s, they fit alright, if a bit loose in the thighs and knee area. So, I dare to try on the 18s. Lo and behold, not only do they pull up, but they button comfortably! Let's just say I might have freaked out the fitting room attendant with my little squeal of joy. I haven't been an 18 since the first half of high school, so about 6 years. I decided to splurge and bought myself a pair of 18s, a pair of 16s and a pair of 14s (as motivation!). Best part? One aspect of their sale is that if you bought a pair of jeans this week, you can lock in the sale price and it lasts until the end of May. That means I get new, comfortable jeans (my favorite brand too!) on sale while I continue to go down in size!

I have gone from a size 24 pant and XL shirt to an 18 pant and L shirt. Feeling pretty good!

Moral of the story? Faded Glory jeans are evil, demoralizing spawns of the devil, while Old Navy jeans are uplifting, heaven-sent angels from above! :P

I attached a picture of me in the fitting room with the 18s and another of the 14s hanging up to motivate myself. They may seem big to some people, but they look pretty small to me!

I am so happy for you! I have found that old navy jeans are cut small for me. I am curvy and I cant wear the same size in old navy as I do in other jeans. Kind of like the opposite of you. It all depends on the cut. I have fat thighs and hips but a smaller waist. Old navy doesnt really work for me. They have little thighs! lol. I was so happy when I found a brand that really fit me well and in a smaller size! Yay for finding the right fit and cut for you!

Congratulations! Shopping will just continue to get more and more fun!!

Forensikchik, I found the same thing with the ON jeans I bought . . . when I put them on in the mornings they are snug at my waist and super-tight in the thighs/butt . . . . but by the end of the day they are comfy on the thighs and WAY too loose at the waist. Any suggestions for good "curvy woman" jeans that aren't womens' sized? I can't buy in the W section anymore because I'm in a 14.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
