Capt Kirk 2 Posted February 25, 2012 My wife and I went to a WLS seminar last Thursday and have been waiting back for insurance verification by the hospital. Just got the call last night that we do in fact have insurance (yes I know) and surgery is covered without a diet waiting period (Yes!!). We have our first appointment next Wednesday to meet with the surgeon, dietitian, and to have our psychiatric evaluation. Does anyone have any relatively good timelines that it takes after our first meeting? I'm trying to fast track this as soon as possible, I am just so ready to make a life change. 1 birdEbird reacted to this
ellidaisy 34 Posted February 25, 2012 After you Psych eval things can move pretty quick, especially if you tell your surgeon you want to fast track this. The longest part is getting the clearance from insurance, then the eval, and your 2 week Protein diet if you should have to do one. Good luck to you : )
Less of Leslie 90 Posted February 25, 2012 My insurance requirements took 3 months. They wanted 3 consecutive visits with the surgeon before submitting. My insurance approved within TWO DAYS!! I was then scheduled 3 weeks out. 1 downsizing reacted to this
downsizing 5 Posted February 25, 2012 Had my consultation today! Can't wait to get started. Insurance coverage verified, but now the doc has to send in the psych eval, labs, and whatever other paperwork to get a confirmation that they will cover my surgery, then we're all set to go! Meli01 53 Posted February 25, 2012 My first appointment with my surgeon was December 18th. My surgery is scheduled for March 12th. The approval from my insurance only took 3 days. Between my first appointment and now I completed all the pre-op testing, had a psych eval and met with my nutritionist twice. Good luck!
Capt Kirk 2 Posted February 25, 2012 That sounds very quick to me!
Lissa 2,631 Posted February 25, 2012 Capt Kirk, Mine went pretty quickly, but I was self-pay. Doing all of the required doctor's visits, etc. takes a good bit of time. Downsizing, I am LOL at your avatar! I can't wait till you change it to a picture of those pants all but falling off of you!
