Anything fried taste and smells horrible to me. I know this isn't really a bad thing but just wondering if this is gonna change the further out I get? My husband eats fried stuff next to me and it makes me gag it smells and it all smells the same no matter what it is. I guess my sleeve doesn't like fried food at all but would that change how it smells?

I've always hated the way fried food smells from a distance. The grease smell is gross. Same with bacon. It just stagnates in the air. Fried food gives me heartburn too.

I think our tastes change dramatically, especially when we go an entire month drinking liquids and then spend another couple weeks on bland foods like cottage cheese and scrambled eggs!

I was really sensitive to everything that had a strong smell post op, particularly when I couldn't eat that food. Now I'm more normal about those things - very little bothers me these days.

Fried foods used to be my downfall. Nothing made me happier than hot, fresh french fries. You could bread and fry just about anything and I'd eat it by the bucket. Nowadays I can take it or leave it. I'm happy eating five or six fries and the only fried food I really eat these days is sweet and sour chicken (that I make myself).

So I would say it probably won't make you feel sick later on but you may never recover that love for foods you enjoyed before surgery.

I haven't touched a fried food since 2 weeks pre-op (month and a half ago). I view it as a "gateway" type of food that could open doors to old habits. I also noticed how sugar tastes totally different to me since surgery. On post op diet greek yogurt tasted GREAT...now on week five its too SWEET. I never viewed any food before as too sweet! Guess my body is being re-trained

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
