Sex after banding

Recommended Posts

Ok.....exactly 2 weeks till surgery....and I can't sleep tonight. The more I keep thinking, the more questions I'm coming up with.

How long after surgery do I have to wait before I can have sex? :)

Hey....I'm a woman in her prime!!!!! LOL :)

All the information that my doctor gave said when you feel up to it. I think that we waited about 10 days or 2 weeks, and then tried to not put much pressure on my tummy...I think you should just see how you feel...I don't think horny made my top ten but you know...needy husband who just gave me $10,000 kind of made me feel a little guilty like I should give it up! hahah

My hubby and I had sex somewhere around a week and a half out and it was fine. I would recomend placing your hand over your port if it is uncomfortable. I know my port bothered me for several weeks after surgery but placing a little light pressure on it helped tremendously.

Me and my DH had sex about a week and a half after I was banded. No problems here. Just good times, lol.

My doc said "nothing vigerous" for 2 weeks. I took that to include sex, and waiting that long. We took things slow, but everything was fine at that point.

Well DH didn't see me until 8 days after my surgery.....needless to say, we waited 8 days. I wasn't too worried....I knew it wouldn't be vigorous, just quick...lol.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
