Guest Momof6

I am relatively new to the forum. I posted last month for the first time asking where to start.

I now am registered for a mandatory lecture (that the doctor gives). The doctor that I have chosen is Dr. Emma Patterson at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, OR.

I have contacted my primary care physician, and he is on board (and has started a letter to the insurance company).

My insurance company will cover this procedure if it is medically necessary. My PCP says it is.

I have so many questions, I don't know where to start. I guess you all will be seeing me pop up quite a bit.

What type of pre-op appointments should I expect?

Thanks in advance for the advice and support. I am so thankful that I found this site and have found others that know exactly what I am and will be going through.

Hi Mom!! I remember you... a name like yours is hard to forget!

Congratulations on being on your way. It's hard to predict exactly, because preparations vary from person to person, but in general you can expect a range of tests to establish your readiness for surgery. Usually that involves a physical, blood work, a psychological evaluation, and a nutrional consultation. Depending on your medical situation there may be others, but those are the basics.

Good luck, and please don't hesitate to come back to ask questions along the way. Welcome back! :D :D :D

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
