6 Month Surgiversary W/ Pics!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday was my 6 mo. surgiversary date and, oh, how life has changed...

  • At my highest weight I was 238 - I lost 33 lbs. before my pre-op diet, then 10 on pre-op diet, and now another 48 since surgery for a total of 91 pounds gone forever
  • At 5'7, I'm just 5 lbs. from my personal goal of 140
  • I have gone from not wanting to get off the couch to regularly hiking 5 miles several days a week (and enjoying it!). I'm doing a 10 mile hike Sunday!
  • I eat about 1000 calories a day and I'm fully satisfied with that amount of food
  • Instead of a size 16-18 and 1x, I'm a size 4-6 pants and small tops
  • I love to shop for clothes now
  • I'm far more social and enjoy getting out and participating in life
  • I feel so much better about myself
  • It hasn't always been an easy journey, but I love my little sleeve of a stomach and the life it has helped me to create for myself!!!

I'll post a before pic of me at my highest weight (238) and a few from this morning at 145. Sorry, was in a hurry and haven't done my hair yet, but wanted to post anyway.

I remember spending weeks just pouring over success stories and I couldn't wait until I could join them and be a "normal" weight! I lived and breathed this forum because I was so excited to be having the surgery. It's hard to believe in just 6 short months I might be an inspiration to others. WOW - thank you for telling me that!

Oh my goodness, thank you for mentioning that because I almost made a video today. I had it all set up and then realized I was late for a doctors appointment. Now that you wrote what you did, I'm going to make one before the weekend is out! XO

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
