AdvocateMom 4 Posted February 23, 2012 Hi everyone :-) I'm so sorry if this sounds dumb, or like I'm overreacting, but I'd like to ask for opinions. I am a little over 4 weeks post-op, and have been on mushies since 3 weeks out (w/ Dr. approval). I've had no issues - I'm weighing and measuring, getting in enough Protein from food, no nausea, no uncomfortable feelings at all, etc. However, the past couple of days I feel uncomfortable and just a small bit of food (foods that I've been having w/no problem) make me feel full to bursting. Even trying to get my liquid in is a struggle. Has this happened to anyone else, and did it pass? I had my surgery out of state, so I email my doctor (PA, actually) with questions, but I feel like if I email her one more time she is going to mark me as spam! Thanks for reading this :-) 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
Bedhead 158 Posted February 23, 2012 Most likely what is happening is that the nerves in your stomach that were severed are beginning to be reconnected. So before you may not have felt full bc you had no ability to experience the sensation- now your sleeve is climbing into the drivers seat. 1 Pookeyism reacted to this
AdvocateMom 4 Posted February 23, 2012 Oh wow, Bedhead - I never once thought of something like that! Thank you :-)
Pookeyism 1,143 Posted February 23, 2012 Hmmm, not sure - could you have developed a food intolerance or allergy that has inflamed your sleeve? Are you going to the bathroom regularly?
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted February 23, 2012 It might be a good idea to eat less. Eat slowly until you fill the almost full sensation. You will be more comfortable.
IowaAndy 95 Posted February 23, 2012 Just curious....have you been having bowel movements?
AdvocateMom 4 Posted February 23, 2012 Thanks for answering, you guys. I am pretty regular. Not as regular as I was before my vsg, but still going w/no laxatives, etc. I don't feel full or uncomfortable in that part of my abdomen, it's mainly in my sleeve area. As far as a food intolerance or allergy - I'm honestly not sure! It's something that I will be paying attention to, though, going forward. I've been keeping a food journal so maybe that will help narrow things down. It;s just so frustrating to be zipping along and then have this feeling hit me. I'm starting to worry about getting my Protein in again, which was something that I was SOOO glad to put behind me, as I was getting it from food... Thank you all for your help :-)
starlet 28 Posted February 23, 2012 I know what you mean! Sometimes with me I can have just a little yogurt, maybe 1oz, and it seems to sit with me all day. Other days I can have 2-3oz of yogurt during the morning and by the evening I can have another 2-3oz and it doesn't feel full at all. Sleeves are finicky creatures
kayte819 95 Posted February 23, 2012 I have no advice (sorry) but o find your post so interesting because I'm about 4 weeks & I eat as my NUT told me to as far as serving sizes go, bit I have never felt the feeling of being full.....never.....I have felt hungry, but nothing even in the realm of food. Now I'm worried what's wrong with me!! Where is my feeling of restriction?? Eeek !!
