Hello BlondeB-I am 23 and am just beginning the process of being banded. Check out my journal, I am using it to document my journey and am detailing it so others can see what I have been going through so far...I think that the procedure is amazing and so life changing, especially with everything that i have seen on this board. I know it will be challenging, but I am really looking forward to being banded and being more healthy...not i just have to quite smoking...:straight

It might be just the hospital policy here, but I honestly didn't see the need for it. I didn't go until well after I was up and walking, and other then giving the nurse something to blush about everytime I see her it seemed to serve no purpose.

Any embarassment, or uncomfortability you go through for this is worth it in my mind. I'm 40lbs lighter then when I started, and I am sure when I get this thing adjusted correctly I will lose more and easier then I am now.

OK now I am nervous!! :):)

My date is on the 22nd and my nerves all over the place about what to expect!

My wife had the same procedure about 4 weeks ago and they did not cath her.

I wonder if it is based on the hospital procedures?

But I am with you, that will be kind of embarassing!

Hey someone named cope tried to ask me if all I was paying was 8000.00 the true answer is 7900.00 Plus 450.00 /person for two to fly down and back. I can't even begin to tell you how impressed I was with the Hotel and facility that they promised me. It was really on the up and up. Dr. Arturo Rodriguez in Monterey Mexico is who took care of me and he was quit impressive. He came to see me every day at the hosp. and hotel he took care of all taxi services and the hospitality was outstanding. The hotel was cleaner than several places I’ve stayed at in the states. I was treated very well. I’m now 8 day post operation. My bruising is almost all gone. I have 5 hole 4 are small and 1 a little large. However that is because I had an enlarged liver and they had to work around it. I would do it all over again no question asked. I have lost 14 lbs some for and my goal is 80-100 lbs. I was banded 08-19-06. I hope who was asking me finds this I was trying to find you (COPE) I’m just not that good on the computer. Sorry I hope this isn’t too late for you. I have also research Dr. Rumbart and he also was recommended well. Good Luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
