For once andy I agree fully. I wouldnt even want to stress my sleeve at that point

I have read all the problems some people have had with their surgery. I have been blessed and have a great Dr.. I was really surprised after surgery, I had no stomach pain at all and really didn't need the morphine button, just a little discomfort at first sleeping on my side. One thing I had was a little pain in my shoulder. Dr. Said " I could tell u followed ur diet, one of the easiest surgerys I performed. The shoulder might be pain displacement " weighed in at surgery 371... This morning 349... No exercise............ yet!!!!!!!!

I am 3 weeks out and can eat meat of any kind as long as its moist and in small enough pieces (I puree it in the food processor). Had my followup today and my surgeon is thrilled. Guess it depends on your surgeon/ center. Mine recommended full liquids at 3days, pureed food at 7 days, and soft (but distinct pieces of food) at day 11. They want us off Protein supplements and onto "real"food food ASAP resuming a normal, healthy plan by 6weeks.

I am now 9 weeks post op and I still have double Protein shake for Breakfast. It is very handy when I am running late or in a hurry or it I happen to be somewhere that I do not want to spend a fortune ordering ala carte. I think that I will always have some Protein mix in my diet.

chicken is the only meat I just don't seem to tolerate too well (of what I have tried so far). I did get about a third of a chick fil a grilled breast down once and it tasted amazing. However, I felt uncomfortable for over an hour afterward. Guess I am still not ready for chicken even at 6 weeks. :(

I am only starting to tolerate grilled chicken breast (3 months). Try dark meat. An ounce or two of chicken in a sauce like chicken cacciatore, chicken tika masala or rotisserie is way easier. A little chicken salad might work too. Dark and moist is the key.

Thanks! I know you are right! I also tried it moist from the crockpot with buffalo sauce and that burned all the way out (if you know what I mean! lol) Chicken is off my list for a few weeks.

it's funny how we all tolerate things so differently. My doctor has us on Full diet no Protein shakes by 4 weeks.

I was able to eat salads-he said No iceberg or celery-but that and the usual bread, Pasta, rice were the only no-no's.

I haven't had problems with any meats or veggies or the few carbs I have eaten. What bothers me are citrus fruits/juices, pineapple and really spicy things-I haven't given them up, just have to be careful.

As many others have said, make sure meat is moist. Although I do treat myself to a nice steak every so often. I buy 1 and divide it into 3 or 4 meals. I enjoy that because of the small amounts I consume I can afford to be a little more indulgent in what I buy (there is only me to feed).

That is awesome, I am the exact same. I decided that me and fast food had a volatile relationship that resulted in my massive rear end. I vowed that I would not eat fast food until at the least I am in maintenance and had absolutely no other option. It hasn't been easy my family eats fast food a lot, I have been through several drive thrus but in the 5.5 months since surgery fast food and my mouth have not reignited there affair.

I travel frequently for work and don't always have an opportunity to avoid the fast food places. I have tried to make the best choices possible when I have to eat at the drive-thru. I like to go to Arby's and get a jr or regular roast beef and eat primarily the roast beef (and skip most of the bun). At McDonald's I get the grilled chicken ranch snack wrap and tear away a large portion of the tortilla wrap. Most places have grilled chicken and I'll eat that without the bun as well. Every once in a while I'll have a burger but I avoid the cheese and mayo, and get rid of most of the bun. I also like Jimmy John's unwiches (sandwiches without bread) and they have some healthful choices like turkey.

I went out Friday night with friends to a pizza place that also has chicken, potatoes, a salad bar etc. I have been craving pizza for a while now so as I knew that I could not eat the Pizza Crust I just scraped the toppings and the sauce off and enjoyed every last bite. I even had enought topping left to put in a little box to bring home for another meal. I too have not gone to a fast food restuarant or a drive through. There is not much I could eat and I do not do coffee or sodas anymore so that does not leave much to choose from.

pizza toppings are yum, although I try to keep it as a treat since it's pretty high in fat. Eggface has lots of pizza recipes on her site and she makes her pizzas on a low-carb tortilla. I try to get thin-crust pizza if we order in and I can usually eat a piece, maybe 2 small pieces . . . but that stuffs me full as a tick.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
